I was blown away. Taste & Rory at their finest. Taste were a local band to me as a teen in Derry. I was 'managing' a small rock/soul band at the time and Taste actually used our PA system at the Embassy Ballroom on one occasion(!) The songs here and Rory's sax playing are, not only incredible, but a revelation to me of a subtle part of Taste that I was unaware of until now. When you consider how young in years Rory was...his maturity was way ahead of his age. I agree about John Wilson and Ritchie McCracken. Like the other Ten Years After musicians, in Alvin Lee's shadow, they didn't receive the accolade they should have. We were lucky and were admitted first so we grabbed our spot stage front and center. Rory played like a wild man. We were so close it was like he played for us alone, making eye contact frequently and saying stuff to us all night. What he said is lost in a cloud in my memory if you know what I mean! I had the honour of meeting Rory in Southampton a couple of times when he played there in the early 70's. What a gentleman - always had time for the fans and one of the truly great musicians (he wasn't just a guitarist, as we know) Always played his heart out and gave us more than we would have ever wanted - except we always wanted more. I still listen to his albums now and they will never age. Thanks for the memory - great song, great vid. I'll be looking for the album! Great stuff, Bat!
